Code Scanner for Data Matrix, Dot Matrix and PDF417-Codes

The software system "PATTERN EXPERT legeo" is designed to handle any kind of task in reading two-dimensional codes from digital images. It is especially suitable for automatic identification systems (AIS) in industrial applications. Currently, "PATTERN EXPERT legeo" is able to read Data Matrix resp. Dot Matrix codes of type ECC200 as well as PDF417 codes.

PATTERN EXPERT legeo can be used in own applications with the help of a development tool or can be delivered as a turn-key solution.

"PATTERN EXPERT legeo" is especially designed to cope with the most difficult reading conditions:

"dot" codes made up of clearly separated spots,
heavily curved codes (e.g. on the surfaces of curved work pieces),
small codes surrounded by many other objects
(e.g. due to a large distance between the camera and code),
strong distortion due to perspective,
poor and non-uniform illumination,
shiny surfaces,
poor contrast,
blur,
arbitrarily rotated or mirrored codes.

Since the 2D barcode reader "PATTERN EXPERT legeo" usually does not require any additional lighting, it is particularly suitable to be used at locations where a strong extra light source is prohibited for safety and security reasons (i.e. the danger of glare stunning crane or forklift operators or other staff).

At first, the system is adjusted. The adjustment consists of selecting the type(s) of code to be read, the camera and the desired trigger and output devices. Then the system is optimally trained for the current application and tested. When the configuration is done and the system works as desired, the live decoding mode can be invoked. In this mode, the reading process is performed automatically according to the selected configuration and the results are output. Now the external devices - monitor, keyboard and mouse - are no longer necessary and may be disconnected.

As a standard solution, PATTERN EXPERT offers a system including the software package, a compact industry PC ("LVmPC") and a progressive scan camera from Leutron Vision. An image of the standard system is shown on the left. Individual solutions for special purposes, can be realised on request.
