Spectroscopy Techniques

The software PATTERN EXPERT airspect allows you to analyze IR spectra, mass spectra, Raman spectra, and ion mobility spectra. When creating a new Knowledge Base for your spectra, you just select the corresponding technique.

For the different techniques there are different sets of measurement units and representations of the spectra (like transmittance or absorbance), which are used for importing and visualizing your spectra. But mainly, they differ in their respective well-adapted and optimized methods for preprocessing and analysis.



The following spectroscopy techniques are available:

  • IR spectroscopy, both MIR and NIR regions
    • IR transmission spectroscopy
    • DRIFT - diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy
    • ATR - attenuated total reflection spectroscopy
    • Acoustic IR spectroscopy
  • Raman spectroscopy
  • Mass spectrometry (cf. amspect)
    • MALDI-TOF (matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization - time of flight)
    • SELDI-TOF (surface enhanced laser desorption/ionization - time of flight)
    • BIA (biomolecular interaction analysis)
    • ICP (inductively coupled plasma)
    • ESI (electro spray ionization)
  • Ion mobility spectrometry
  • Moreover, PATTERN EXPERT airspect is suited for analyzing data of other physical methods, like ultrasonic spectroscopy or differential scanning calorimetry, among others.



For all the above spectroscopy techniques, the methods and predefined settings have been selected for optimal performance in your application.
